All of Waverly Pet Rescue's dogs and puppies are current on vaccinations, tested heartworm negative, and spayed or neutered.
In order to be considered for an adoption today you must be 21 years of age, have knowledge and consent of all adults living in your household, have a valid Id with current address, your landlord’s name and phone number.
DUKE *FOSTER OR ADOPTER NEEDED*
Adult: About 2 years old as of January 2026.
Breed: Shepherd/German Shepherd Mix.
Sex: Male
Size: 50 pounds.
Coat length: Short.
House-trained: Yes.
Good in a home with: Adults and older children, big dogs.
Needs a home without: Cats, dogs, young children, small dogs.
Personality: Duke is friendly and affectionate. He’s energetic too.
Required: We do not know the trauma Duke experienced in his life in Storm Lake or who it was that mistreated him. Duke has so many good qualities and will thrive if the right home can be found. He needs some training to help him heal from that trauma. He can learn that the leash won't hurt him, that a sturdy kennel is best for him and will keep him safe, that he will never be hurt or abandoned again. Are you that person that can help Duke and love him as a foster dog or love him forever and adopt him?

Remy is a 4 year old Border Collie that is neutered and up-to-date on vaccines. he weighs about 35 pounds. Remy is a very sweet dog that loves to be loved. He’s a cuddler and wants to be near his person. He’s very smart and learns very quickly. He knows commands for sit, shake, down and roll over. His favorite thing is to play fetch … a ball thrower is excellent because he can run really fast and really far. He can also jump really high and will jump up for a ball that’s over 5 feet in the air. He has energy so an active home would be best. He hikes and swims with his current foster mom.
He is nervous in new environments and with new people so he will take some time to warm up but once he does, he will love deeply. He’s very afraid of loud noises he hides in the bathroom or in his kennel when he hears a delivery at the door. He is very selective with other dogs and will lunge or try to bite so it’s best he is an only dog & no young children. It is believed that he may have been neglected or yelled at by a man so when introducing him to a male, give him time to learn to trust. He is kennel trained … his kennel is his safe place. He goes into the kennel whenever left home alone to avoid scratching at the door if he hears loud noises. He can become destructive if a loud noise triggers his fear.
